Brussels, 08/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - From countries holding EU Council Presidency in 2004 and 2005, the employers' organisations IBEC (Ireland), VNO-NCW (Netherlands), FEDIL (Luxembourg) and CBI (United Kingdom) have published their action plan for 2004-2005 on "Growth and Prosperity in Europe". The four organisations (members of UNICE, European employers) call on the Dutch Presidency to pay greater attention to the Lisbon strategy by strengthening the role of the Competitiveness Council and by establishing a European budget with a direct link with this strategy (therefore granting more funding to innovation, R&D and transport). Employers' also insist on labour that can adapt to changes in society and on a dynamic industrial policy. UNICE President Jürgen Straube welcomed the initiative. (Information: VNO-NCW, Brussels.
