Brussels, 08/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Commission decided to send inspectors to the nuclear power station of Temelin in the Czech Republic, where a leak of radioactive water occurred on Sunday. "Today, the Czech authorities have reported that this was a minor incident", said Gilles Gantelet, spokesperson for European Commissioner for Energy, Loyola de Palacio, on Tuesday. "As we feel that we should always check in person", the Commission "decided this morning to send a team of inspectors on-site", he said, adding that the team would leave that afternoon. When asked about Austrian concerns about this power station, voiced during accession negotiations with the Czech Republic, Mr Gantelet said: "I do not think that we can say at this stage that Sunday's occurrence justifies anything".
