Brussels, 08/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission will go to the European Court of Justice if there is any publication in advance of the European elections in the Netherlands (or in the United Kingdom where the elections are being held on 10 June). the Dutch interior minister had indicated that results could be made public by councils at the end of the vote counting on Thursday evening. In the event of any premature publication, "the Commission is planning to begin infringement proceedings in compliance with Article 223, in order to seek a Court judgement", affirmed the spokesperson on Tuesday. According to the Commission's legal service, it is not possible to publish results before the voting ends in the EU, namely Sunday evening at 20H GMT.
