02/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - Le Monde on Wednesday states that Jacques Barrot, who replaces Michel Barnier as Regional Policy and Institutional Affairs Commissioner, "wants to obtain an economic post" in the next European Commission. According to Le Monde, the Elysée confirms Mr Barrot will remain a European Commissioner for the next five years and that he is hoping for the competition or internal market portfolio.
