Budget surplus for 2003 could help to reduce contributions of 25 Member States for 2004 - Commissioner Schreyer says this will help struggling States

Brussels, 12/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - As indicated, the net budget surplus of 5.47 billion EUR on the EU's 2003 budget, announced at the final closing of budget accounts for this financial year, will help to reduce Member State contributions to the 2004 budget (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.9).
