Luxembourg calls for guarantees for banking secrets in context of negotiations on taxation and Schengen with Switzerland

Brussels, 11/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - Luxembourg was again at the centre of discussions on savings tax during Tuesday's Ecofin Council in Brussels. The Finance Minister and Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Jean-Claude Juncker, called for guarantees so that the Luxembourg banking secret might be as protected as that in Switzerland in future.

The aim of the discussions under way is to reach an agreement with Switzerland on judiciary and administrative cooperation, in the context of the Schengen...
