20/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - European Commissioner Erkki Liikanen may leave his post as Commissioner before his term of office expires in order to become a governor at the Central Bank of Finland. The Finnish President is to make the nomination by the end of the week. The Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Finland have named Erkki Liikanen for the post of governor and the appointment has now to be confirmed. It is believed in Finland that Mr Liikanen's tenure will begin on 1 July.
