ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) automobile sector

China intends to build 2.6 million cars in 2004 (as opposed to 2 million in 2003, an increase of 26%). According to the French press agency AFP, this will mean China outstripping Germany to become the third largest car manufacturer in the world behind the USA and Japan.
