Brussels, 13/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - The EU Council signed agreements last week with Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein (an exchange of letters) for the provisional application of a series of agreements extending the EEA (European Economic Area) to the ten new Member States when they join on 1 May. The procedure was needed because an agreement to extend the EEA will surely not be able to be formally ratified to enter into force on 1 May.
