13/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - The United Kingdom will oppose the opening of membership negotiations with Croatia for as long as it refuses to fully cooperate with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), in particular over the extradition of the fugitive general Ante Gotovina, according to British European Affairs Minister Dennis MacShane in an interview with a Croatian daily. The United Kingdom and the Netherlands still refuse to ratify the EU/Croatia Stabilisation and Association Agreement demanding first the arrest and delivery of Gotovina. The Croatian Government claims to be unaware of the hiding place of the general.
