Number of Erasmus students and teachers increases in 2002/2003

Brussels, 01/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - The number of Erasmus students increased by 7% over the 2002/2003 period compared to 2001/2002, reaching over one million since the scheme was launched in 1987, reports established by national Socrates-Erasmus agencies say. Spain remains the preferred destination of students and Germany the place where most teachers wish to go. The number of teachers has constantly risen, from 7,800 in 1997/98 to 17,000 in 2002/2003.
