Parliament calls for more radical measures to limit animal suffering during transport - call for maximum 4 hour journey to slaughterhouse

Brussels, 01/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - By adopting the report on Tuesday of Albert Jan Maat (EPP-Netherlands) on animal protection during transport, Parliament has decided, in a consultative capacity, to radically revise current legislation (directives 64/432/ECC and 93/119/EC), which the Commission had not sought in its draft regulation of July 2003, to limit animal suffering.
