Strasbourg, 01/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday during the vote on its resolution on the European Council o f25-26 March in Brussels, the European Parliament specifically called for (by 199 votes for, 173 against and 15 abstentions) the European Constitution to be signed in Madrid. Francesco Fiori MEP from Forza Italia was unhappy with the adoption of this "anti-Italian vote", following an amendment introduced by Italian MEPs Rutelli, Napolitano, Frassoni and Cossutta. Fiori protested that they were trying to harm Berlusconi, who had been working for months to convince his colleagues of the need to sign the new constitution in Rome (EUROPE will be returning to the resolution later).
