EP calls on European Commission to elaborate paper on history of European culture

Brussels, 02/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - By adopting the report last Thursday in Brussels of Vasco Graça Moura (EPP-ED, Portugal) on the "role of the school and educational training in gaining access to culture for the optimum number of citizens", Parliament regretted that only 17% of pupils aged 15 years old in the EU possessed basic educational skills (reading, writing and arithmetic) in accordance with the OECD average.
