Debate on new regulation on waste transfers allows for majority orientations on contentious points

Brussels, 02/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Environment council meeting on Monday evening under the chairmanship of Martin Cullen held a fruitful political debate on the draft regulation (amending regulation 93/259/EC) to strengthen inspection procedures for waste transfers within the EU and leaving it, with a view to transposing the Basle Convention on cross-border movements of hazardous waste, into Community law.
