Brussels, 16/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers Association) confirms in a press release that a delegation headed by its president, Bernd Pischetsrieder (Volkswagen) is to attend a meeting on 18 February in Brussels with the President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, as well as several Commission members. Commissioners will include Erkki Liikanen, it was specified by the spokesperson of the European Commission, Reijo Kemppinen.
ACEA states that the meeting, which was scheduled several weeks ago, is part of the continuous and regular communication between the motor industry and the EU institutions. It adds that the purpose of the meeting on Wednesday is to exchange views on the need to improve the business environment in the European Union in general and to discuss the ways in which one of the key sectors in European economy, such as the automotive industry, could best contribute to the achievement of the objectives laid out in the Lisbon Agenda.
