Contradictory declarations from Tremonti and Frattini on freezing EU budget - divergences among MEPs

Brussels, 23/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - An MEP has sharply criticised the ideas expressed by Italian minister Giulio Tremonti this week on possible support from Italy to the six countries that demanded a ceiling be set on the EU budget of 1% of GDP for the 2007-13 period (Germany, France, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Austria and Sweden) but the Italian minister of foreign affairs Franco Frattini rules out these intentions.
