Commission to examine Italian aid for farmers affected by Parmalat crisis

Brussels, 20/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - Italy has sent DG Agriculture at the European Commission its safeguard measures it is going to use for farmers affected by the Parmalat bankruptcy. Commissioner Franz Fischler's spokesperson, Thorsten Muench confirmed this information on Tuesday, explaining that the services involved were now going to examine whether these measures respected European rules on the agricultural sector.
