Car manufacturers doubt they will be able to meet their CO2 emissions reduction targets under the voluntary agreement signed with the Commission - Commissioner Margot Wallstrom remains optimistic

Brussels, 23/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - The ACEA (Association de Constructeurs Européens d'Automobiles) and their Japanese (JAMA) and Korean counterparts (KAMA) will find it hard to meet the target they committed themselves to, namely to cut CO2 emissions for new cars sold in Europe to 140 g per kilometre in 2008 (ACEA) and 2009 (JAMA and KAMA).
