Brussels, 18/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Union has decided to maintain import quotas on certain steel products from Ukraine pending the conclusion of the new steel agreement under negotiation. The decision, taken without debate by the Council, establishes quotas at the same level as in 2003 given that Ukraine has, since 1 January 2003, imposed a 30 euro/tonne tax on ferrous scrap exports which has been neither dismantled nor reduced.
