Sound signs may be registered as brand, but with conditions

Luxembourg, 28/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - On request from the Supreme Court of the Netherlands (Hoge Raad), the Court of Justice has just indicated that, to be registered as a trade mark, a sound sign must be capable of graphical representation in a 'clear, precise, self contained, easily accessible, intelligible, durable and objective' manner.
