20/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - By voting on Wednesday on two reports by the Swedish Socialist Hans Karlsson, the European Parliament rejected the proposed directive concerning the alignment of measures concerning the security of oil supplies (367 for, 151 against and 6 abstentions) and the proposed directive forcing member states to maintain a minimum amount of oil stocks, Wednesday (co-decision for the first and consultation for the second). Thus the Parliament conformed with the recommendation made by its Energy Committee which, on 3 November, confirmed the Parliament vote of 23 September in first reading, namely the rejection, pure and simple, of these two proposals (see EUROPE of 24 September, p.12).
