20/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - By approving on Tuesday the report by the British Labour member Imelda Read on the proposed decision relating to the provision of interoperable paneuropean electronic government services to public administrations, companies and citizens (IDABC) (co-decision: first reading), the European Parliament supported the European Commission proposal aiming to establish a follow-up programme to the IDA II programme (cross-border cooperation and communication between public administrations for the exchange of information and expertise, in all sectors, via electronic means) and to extend this programme to citizens and companies. The Parliament feels that this proposal will facilitate the free movement of persons, goods and services.
