20/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - By adopting on Tuesday the report by the British labour member Imelda Read on the proposed regulation concerning the granting of Community financial support in the field of transeuropean telecommunications networks (co-decision, first reading), the European Parliament accepted increasing from 10 to 30% the share of Community financing (via the eTEN project) in the total investment cost of a project at the deployment phase. The increase in Community share will not change the programmes global budget since the projects financed by eTEN will be fewer. The eTEN programme aims to meet the targets set by the action plan in the field of telecommunications eEUROPE 2005.
