Brussels, 16/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The governments of the euro zone countries decided on Thursday evening to officially appoint Jean-Claude Trichet as President of the European Central Bank (ECB). Mr Trichet is to replace Wim Duisenberg on 1 November for a term of eight years. Mr Trichet was received by the Heads of State and Government after his appointment had been confirmed.
