US conglomerate a GE - GENERAL ELECTRIC will be launching a friendly take-over bid of EUR 8.1 bn for British company AMERSHAM (turnover EUR 2.3 bn in 2002 with 10,000 employees), a world leader in contrast media imagery for medical supplies.
