Presentation of offer of a study on services being opened to foreign providers is imminent

Brussels, 14/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - With over a six-month delay compared to the deadline set in March this year, India is preparing to submit its initial offers to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) on opening up the provision of services to foreign providers in the context of negotiations on the Doha Development Agenda, it was announced at the Trade Ministry. New Delhi has expressed disappointment by European offers on method IV (temporary movement of professionals), mainly the numeric restrictions envisaged, and also by the lack of any American offer in this field. The Indian document is said to cover most sectors, the local press reports, including communication, environment, health, education, leisure activities, sports, culture, professional services and tourism, but not accounting or legal services, express delivery or mail services, wholesale or retail trade, and activities under franchise.
