The British ALLIED DOMECQ, group number two in sales of spirits, has withdrawn its offer of 149 million (Australian dollars) for the purchase of Australian wine producer PETER LEHMANN WINES. The British company announced that it would be selling its 14.5% stake in LEHMANN to another candidate wanting to buy, the Swiss company HESS GROUP whose offer is supported by independent administrators from the Australian wine industry.
