08/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - William Abitbol, member of the Group of Europe of Democracies and Diversities at the European Parliament, is organising, on 16 October at the National Assembly in Paris, an information meeting on the theme "Europe: who's afraid of the referendum?". He plans to answer this question with the Deputy for Essonne, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, British MP David Heathcoat-Amory, and Danish and Swedish MEPs, Jens-Peter Bonde (Juni-B) and Lennart Sacrédeus (KD). In an article published in Le Figaro, Mr Abitbol noted on Wednesday that the bitter bargaining begun in Rome is only worthy of cat and dog fights, possibly of specialised lawyers but not of those drafting a Constitution! It should also be noted that, according to a BVA survey for Le Monde, 74% of the French hope there will be a referendum and 72% are in favour of adopting a European Constitution.
