Member States in favour of creating Borders Agency - Political agreement for network of immigration officers

Brussels, 02/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - Preparations for discussions at the European Council in Brussels (16 and 17 October) on immigration have shown a moderately broad consensus on the creation of a European Agency for Border Management, Commissioner Antonio Vitorino and Italian Minister for the Interior, Giuseppe Pisanu announced at the end of the meeting of the JHA Council's meeting in Brussels on Thursday.
