Brussels, 26/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - The EU-Tunisia Association Council is to hold its 4th session on 30 September in Brussels on the fringe of the General Affairs Council. The meeting, at ministerial level, will enable stock to be taken of the cooperation achieved within the framework of the "neighbourly" policy within the enlarged Europe. At bilateral level, it is envisaged that sector-specific sub-committees of the Association Committee will be set up on this occasion. The Council's plenary session will be preceded by a political dialogue meeting, on 29 September during a dinner, covering various issues such as: the Middle East peace process, Iraq and the Barcelona Process and sub-regional inter-Maghreb and inter-Mediterranean cooperation. Discussion will also cover human rights in the country and the prospect of establishing structured dialogue on the state of democracy in the Mediterranean partner countries proposed by the European Commission on the eve of the Euro-Mediterranean ministerial conference in May, in Crete.
