Committee on Citizens' Freedoms hopes to launch Article 7.1 of the Treaty for failure to comply with freedom of expression in Italy

Strasbourg, 23/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament's Committee on Citizens' Freedoms hopes to establish a report on respect of freedom of expression and information in Italy. Concerned about the power held by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in the media in Italy, most coordinators (except EEP) agreed on Monday evening in hoping that a report on the matter would be drafted, parliamentary sources state.
