12/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Council of Europe has welcomed the decision of the Armenian National Assembly, adopted on 9 September by 91 votes in favour and one against, to abolish the death penalty and authorise the ratification of the 6th Protocol of the European convention on Human rights. Armenia could thus become the 42nd country out of 45 in the pan-European organisation to have ratified this protocol.
