05/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has stated that, just a few hours after filing Seoul's complaint in Geneva (see EUROPE of 4 September, p.10), it received a request for consultation on the part of South Korea on the subject of specific, targeted aid that the Union has granted to its shipyards since last year. The Korean authorities claim that these measures run counter to WTO rules. It is believed in Brussels, however, that this is just a manoeuvre to draw attention away...
