Brussels, 05/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - "It is not enough to proclaim rights, but to ensure they are respected", MEPs state, expressing concern that the fundamental rights situation in 2002 was "worrying in the 15 Member States in many respects and seems to have gone downhill in various fields". The resolution, which is already causing considerable discussion, was presented by Fodé Sylla (GUE, France) and adopted by 221 to 195 with 23 abstentions, after the vote on numerous amendments.
