29/08/2003 (Agence Europe) - During a meeting in Rome on Thursday, Romano Prodi and the President of Democratici di sinistra, Massimo D'Alema, agreed on a more ambitious project than that of a single list of "Ulivo" parties at the next European elections as proposed by the president of the Commission: - the constitution of a "large European reform party" formed of the different Italian centre-left components. It will not be easy, it will "cost some ripping and tearing (…), but if we do not embark on this adventure we cannot go back", warned Mr Prodi.
