Brussels, 31/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - Between 1991 and 2000, cash family benefits went up by 36% in the EU, in spite of the birth rate dropping over the same period. Cash family benefits accounted for over 5% of social protection benefits in 2000, according to a report on cash family benefits in Europe published on 30 July by Eurostat (the EU's statistical office in Luxembourg).
