Frankfurt, 31/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council adopted an opinion on the recommendation by the Council of the EU concerning the appointment of the next ECB President. In a press release, the Governing Council states that there were no objections to the appointment of the proposed candidate, Jean-Claude Trichet, whose authority and professional monetary and banking experience is recognised (as required by the Treaty).
