31/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - Following Malta and Cyprus, Poland has become the third acceding country to complete ratification of the Accession Treaty. Only Denmark and Germany, among current Member States, have ratified it. The last two candidate countries to hold referenda on accession (Estonia and Latvia) will organise their referenda on 14 and September respectively. A narrow majority (55%) is in favour of accession in Estonia (according to an EMOR poll in June) and the most recent Fakti poll in Latvia revealed that the yes vote has fallen sharply from 57% to 49.6%. Latvia's referendum will be binding, as long as there is a minimum turnout of 50%, but Estonia's referendum is not binding.
