30/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - In Paris on 8/11 July, and Nancy (France) on 9 July, the Fondation pour la civilisation européenne headed by Gérard Montassier is organising a conference on civil society and European political society, in collaboration with the French national assembly and Nancy and Paris IX universities. The conference will be chaired by Pierre Lequiller, President of the French Délégation de l'Assemblée nationale pour l'Union européenne and Member of the European Convention. Other speakers include the President of the French Délégation du Sénat pour l'Union européenne (and Convention Member), Senator Haenel; Bundestag MP Wolfgang Schäublele; the President of the Belgian Senate Armand de Decker; the President of the European Economic and Social Committee Roger Briesch; the President of the Committee of the Regions Albert Bore ; former European Commissioner Etienne Davignon; former Secretary General of the French trade union CFDT, Nicole Notat; and Convention Member Pascale Andreani. The participants will focus on relations between civil society and national and European politics. In Paris on 11 July Valéry Giscard d'Estaing will be discussing possible future scenarios for the European Constitution. (La Fondation pour la civilisation européenne, Paris.
