30/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - On the day before the Italian Presidency presents its programme for the semester to the European Parliament, the WWF, Greenpeace, Lagambiente, Birdlife Internation/LIPU and European Environmental Bureau (EEB) are to hold a press conference in Strasbourg on Tuesday, to ask for more safeguards for the environment. In a press release, the organisations have voiced their fears of "the exporting to Europe of the environmental deregulation underway in Italy, as demonstrated by the simplification of procedures for environmental impact assessment, and waste management, for example, in breach of Community standards".
