Brussels, 24/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - The French government will soon be receiving a formal request for information from the Commission which is losing patience about its lack of mobility concerning exceptional aid granted to the group Bull, and which was to be recovered on 17 June, the final deadline. The information is relayed by the economic press which cites a "European source". We recall that, on 14 November 2002, the Commission had authorised France to pay a treasury advance of EUR 450 million to the IT company Bull, accepting the argument whereby this was a loan for the short term rescue of the company and not new aid for restructuring, from which the company had already benefited. France was, however, to keep to the times set for repayment, which was not done. (See EUROPE of 15 November, p.12).
