Launch of infringement proceedings against Austria

Brussels, 24/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday the European Commission decided to open an infringement procedure against Austria, which is planning to ban heavy goods vehicles carrying certain goods from a section of the A12 motorway in the Tyrol from 1 August 2003 onwards. The Commission feels this is discriminatory and will be an obstacle to the smooth working of the internal market.
