23/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - The case of Ali Lamrabet, a journalist found guilty of insulting the King, is followed closely in Brussels, according to the spokesperson of European Commissioner Chris Patten. The subject was tackled on Wednesday during the meeting between the Commissioner and the Moroccan Prime Minister, Driss Jettou. Mr Patten stressed the EU's commitment to respect human rights and recalled the recent communication to the Council on this theme. The text, on which the participants at the Euro-Mediterranean ministerial conference in Crete were briefed, proposes positive action for promoting human rights, through access by the countries that so deserve to possible additional regional funds still to be defined by the Fifteen.
