Brussels, 23/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - In addition to the development of the Euro-Mediterranean transport network (see below), the Commission's weekly meeting, which is being held exceptionally on Tuesday due to Romano Prod's departure for the EU/USA Summit, should be devoted to assessing the Netherlands' stability programme "revisited". The College is, moreover, expected to adopt a Council recommendation inviting it to endorse the agreement concluded between the European Union and Canada on European geographic indications for wines and spirits. The agreement will allow an end to put to the abusive use of certain names of origin through loopholes in Canada's trade legislation (see EUROPE of 5 March).
