Commissioner Barnier reassures remote areas that their prerogatives will be safeguarded in future treaty

Paris, 13/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - On 2 June, France, Spain, Portugal and the remote regions, met in Paris for the Conference of Remote Regions where they submitted a common memorandum to Commissioner Barnier, aimed at safeguarding their prerogatives in the future Constitutional treaty. Michel Barnier was keen to reassure them that Article 299 in the EC treaty would be included in the draft treaty elaborated by the European Convention.
