Commission approves acquisition of Fidis Retail Italia by four Italian banks

Brussels, 28/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the Italian banking groups Banca Intesa, Capitalia, IMI San Paolo and Unicredito to take over control of Fidis Retail Italia, a consumer credit business hitherto controlled by the Italian group Fiat Auto. The banks are specialised in different sectors namely lending, insurance, finance and services allied to banking, both at domestic and international level.
