Cuban ambassador to the EU justifies repression by 'legitimate defence' and reaffirms Cuba's interest in the Cotonou Agreement

Brussels, 17/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - Visibly indifferent to criticism from the European Parliament and the EU Council in declarations condemning the wave of arrests and trials against representatives of the Cuban opposition, the Cuban ambassador to the EU, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, defended Cuban policy during a press conference and reaffirmed his country's interest 'in adhering to the Cotonou Agreement.'
