Provisional agenda of next College meeting - seminar on migratory flows

Brussels, 21/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - During its next meeting, on Wednesday 26 March, the European Commission is expected to examine the following points: 1) Principles, priorities and intermediary aims of the partnership with a view to accession by Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey to the EU (communication); 2) strengthened pre-accession strategy for Turkey (communication); 3) second annual report on the stabilisation and association processes with the countries of South East Europe; 4) proposal of directive on harmonising transparency obligations concerning information on the subject of issuers whose securities are admitted to negotiation on a regulated market, and amending Directive 2001/34/EC; and 5) proposal of decision relating to the renewal of the mandate of OLAF members.

The meeting strictly speaking will be followed by a seminar on immigration and the management of migratory flows. The College will hold an exchange of views after having heard a presentation by Commissioner Vitorino on what has already been done, or not done, in this field. A few months before the Thessalonika Summit, Mr Vitorino will probably seek to obtain political support from all his colleagues on a dossier in which the Member States are, to say the least, recalcitrant.
