Brussels, 07/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European network Against Racism (ENAR) expresses "its regrets" regarding the "particularly alarming" political agreement on family reunification, during the JHA Council of 27 February. ENAR, which represents more than 600 NGOs believes that the agreement runs "contrary to fundamental principles set out in the European Convention for the Protection of Human rights and the International Convention on the Rights of the Child". It particularly condemns the derogation for Member States to stop children aged over 12 to live with their parents, if they have failed integration tests, as well as the possibility of refusing entry to a partner aged under 21.
